Hello!

I have decided to start a blog in an effort to do a better job of documenting all of the things our sweet Drew is up to. He had his first birthday a few weeks ago and looking back over the last year, I realized how bad of a job I did recording all of those precious memories. I am new to the blogging world, but excited to get started... so here goes!

Quick warning on my first blog post.. It's going to be a long one! While the last year is still pretty fresh on my mind (because it flew by), I thought I better do a recap of Drew's milestones and highlights of year number one. But, first, to the introduction!

Andrew Wallace made his big debut on January 3, 2012 at 9:13am. We couldn't have been happier! He weighed 6lb 8oz and was 20.25'' long.
This is one of my favorite pictures from the hospital. My mom and two sister-in-laws with Drew. These three have been my constant "go to's" and I can't imagine not having their guidance over the last year!
I remember taking this picture the first night at home and thinking "holy cow! i can't believe we are here by ourselves with a baby!"

Now to the "highlights"... some big, some small:
  • Drew hated tummy time....

  • Loved his baths (and still does)...
  • Loved having play dates...

  • And became a great little traveler (Jasper, Branson, Colorado)...

  • He got to meet his great grandpa at 2 months.
  • He slept through the night for the first time at 9 weeks and consistently at 11 weeks. We are so thankful for a good sleeper! Not a huge napper, but definitely loves bed time.
  • He started school when he was three months old. He loved it and still does! We always get great reports and we can tell he really likes his friends and teachers. At one point Drew and his "girlfriend" were referred to as Bonnie and Clyde and even had to have their cribs moved away from each other during nap time. Ha! First day of school...
  • Rolled over at 4 months.
  • Started sitting on his own right at 5 months.
  • Started saying "dada" at 5 months and "mama" a month later.
  • Broke out in hives from a penicillin allergy when he was 6 months old. Scared us to death!
  • Started crawling at 7 months and pulling up just a few weeks after.
  • Served as the ring bearer in one of my best friend's wedding when he was 8 months.

  • Cut 6 teeth between 6 and 8 months. I remember taking this picture after a very long weekend of teething. Finally got some relief and a half smile.
  • Flew for the first time and went on his first big trip at 9 months. He did much better on the plane than I thought he would!
  • Celebrated his great-grandma's 80th birthday!
  • Dressed up for Halloween. He was a rooster...
  • Started eating table food at 10 months.
  • Celebrated his first Christmas season at 11 months. Met Santa, got to see the lights on the Fayetteville square, got spoiled rotten at 5 family Christmas' and got to wake up to presents from Santa at home.

  • Took 5 steps on Christmas night! I was not able to get a picture of this because he wouldn't do it again for at least another week.
  • Completely transitioned from a bottle to sippy cup and from formula to whole milk by his first birthday.

Speaking of first birthdays, I'll do a separate post on that next! But, what a blessed first year! We fall more in love with this little man every day. He is truly the best thing that has ever happened to us and we feel so lucky that he is ours!
