Catching up... Update

Hello! So much to update. I was having issues uploading pictures, but hopefully I'm back on track to update more often. This post may be super long, but since I last posted we...

Had a parent teacher's conference! Our second one for Drew. They do one in the spring and one in the fall. At the last one, Drew hadn't been in that class very long, so it was neat to see the comparison from October to March. The teacher gives you a sheet of categories they are working on with them. They show you what has been introduced to your child and what they have mastered. Drew was listed as mastering everything shown to him with the exception of covering a yawn/sneeze and counting backwards. His teacher said he was ready for the Primary class, but won't move up until July. She also said he loves to help her and is their "go to guy" when his friends need help with something. I doubt there is ever a negative conference at this age, but we heard so many positive things! Proud parents when we left there, for sure!

Went to our first dentist appointment! He did really good, but did not like when they put the fluoride on his teeth at the end. I don't blame him one bit. It's a texture thing! He was very curious and fascinated with everything they were doing. He got a great report and was cavity free. Hope we can keep that up!

Played his first round of golf! Well... 9 holes anyway. He liked it and lasted the entire time, but we had a few episodes of him running to the hole next to the one we were playing. Thank goodness we weren't somewhere fancy!

Had a fun snow day at home! We've had a lot of snow this year, so "fun" snow days were hard to come by. Drew is a busy body and being cooped up all day could be a challenge. We made the best of this one though! We colored, dressed up like Jake, took a mid morning bath and blew lots of bubbles, made banana bread and got into a million different things!

Made a trip to the cabin in Jasper! We went over for the weekend to watch the girls play basketball and cheer. Cassie got to play up with the varsity girls, so that was a big deal and exciting to get to see! When we weren't at games, we just hung out at the cabin and enjoyed each other!

On the way home, Drew waited until we passed all of the stores with bathrooms before he told us he absolutely had to go. So, we had a first! He hadn't started standing at this point at all, so we had to bust out the potty on the side of the road. When you've gotta go, you've gotta go!
Went to his first parade! The Fayetteville square had a St. Patrick's Day parade and he thought it was neat to get to see the fire trucks, the music and just all the fun things that come with a parade. It was a small one, but he was impressed.

Spent a weekend in Branson with my parents! School was closed on Friday for Spring Break, so we headed over to Branson to take advantage of the extra day. We had fun! Still a little young to get to do a whole lot, but the best part was the true quality time we got to spend with Drew. It can be hard to stop for an entire day when you are at home, so it was nice to be away for the weekend. My parents are always great company and good entertainment, so it was nice for Drew (and us) to get to spend some QT with them as well! We shopped at the outlet malls and my parents made sure Drew rode those little rides as many times as he wanted. We attempted to swim, but the water was too cold. We went to a little arcade, played mini golf, ate a lot and just hung out! Drew found a "guitark" while we were shopping and did not put it down all weekend. Lots of entertainment there!

That should mostly cover the bigger things we've done since I last updated! One last thing to update...

My favorite Drewisms:
*Fix it = Fis Ick... "Timmy's gonna fis ick"
*Hair Cut = Hair Cup.. Since he got his last hair cut, even just talking about his hair, it is "hair cup"
*Carry = Carrot... When he wants me to carry him he says "I wanna carrot"
*Kitchen = Chicken
*Guitar = Guitark
*Vaseline = Basine... he loves putting this on his lips before bed as chapstick.
*Bathtub = Bathtuff

My favorite Drew Phrases:
*"Did you sleep tight?" when we go into his room in the morning.
*"Yes sir!" when he makes a basket or hits a ball.
*"Mommy, you brush your hair cup?" when he sees me brushing my hair.
*"Where did sunny go" when the sun is all the sudden out of his face in the car.
*"Take it to the rack!" when he watches basketball with Andy.
*"Your feet cold?" when he saw me putting on my socks.
*"Night, night. Let the bugs bite" when he's going to bed.
*"Sweep dreams" also when he is going to bed.

My favorite newer things he has learned:
*Philanges - He has learned that his philanges are his fingers and toes and wiggles them when you ask where they are. Pretty sure I didn't learn this until high school!
*Heart - He knows where his heart is and when you ask, he puts his hand over his heart and says "bomp bomp"
*Boy/Girl identification - If he knows the person, he knows if they are a boy or a girl. I thought maybe he just knew specific people, but anyone he knows personally, he can tell you their gender. Intersting to me, because I don't even know how they teach that at this age! I really wish I could type out the way he says girl. It is hilarious. It has about 2 more syllables than it should and his mouth moves all over the place.

Leaving off with my favorite picture of our family so far this year! My SIL, Dessa, took this as we were walking in to a restaurant the weekend we were in Jasper. We don't have very many pictures of the 3 of us, but this is a keeper for sure!
